Newborn & Child Care
What ages does Dr. Jinal Kamdar treat?
Dr. Jinal Kamdar, Consultant Neonatologist & Paediatrician, cares for children of every age — from newborns and premature babies through infants, toddlers, school-age children and adolescents. Whatever your child’s stage, you are warmly welcome at Tathved Children Hospital.
What is a NICU, and what do Level II and Level III care mean?
A NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) is a specialised unit for newborns who need extra medical support. Our Level II & III NICU cares for premature and low-birth-weight babies as well as more critically ill newborns who need advanced support such as neonatal ventilation. Dr. Jinal Kamdar will explain the exact level of care your baby needs and guide you at every step.
When should I bring my newborn for the first visit?
It is good to have your newborn seen within the first week after discharge, and then for regular well-baby checks as advised. These early visits let us monitor feeding, weight gain, jaundice and overall wellbeing. If anything worries you sooner, please call us — it is always better to check early.
How do you care for premature or low-birth-weight babies?
Premature and low-birth-weight babies receive dedicated care in our Level II & III NICU, including warmth and feeding support, close monitoring, neonatal ventilation when needed, and gentle, family-centred care. Dr. Jinal Kamdar supports both baby and parents through every milestone of those important early weeks.
What is the vaccination and immunization schedule?
Children receive a series of vaccines from birth through the early years to protect them from preventable illnesses. We follow recognised immunization schedules and maintain your child’s vaccine record, reminding you when each dose is due. Dr. Jinal Kamdar will tailor the timing to your child’s health and history.
Do you offer breastfeeding and lactation counselling?
Yes. We provide supportive, judgement-free breastfeeding and lactation counselling to help with latching, positioning, milk supply and feeding routines. Good early feeding helps your baby grow well, and we are happy to guide new mothers through any concerns.
How do you monitor my child’s growth and development?
At regular visits we track your child’s weight, height and head circumference, and watch developmental milestones such as movement, speech and play. This helps us catch any concern early and reassure you that your child is growing on track. Dr. Jinal Kamdar will discuss each finding with you clearly.
When should I see a paediatrician for fever or infection?
Please seek care if your child has a high or persistent fever, is very young (especially under 3 months), is feeding poorly, is unusually drowsy or irritable, has difficulty breathing, or simply does not seem right to you. When in doubt, it is always safest to have your child examined — call us and we will guide you.

How often will my child need follow-up visits?
Follow-up depends on your child’s age and health — newborns, premature babies and those on a vaccination schedule are seen more frequently, while healthy older children need periodic well-child checks. Dr. Jinal Kamdar will advise a schedule that suits your child.
